This show was a labor of love, sparked from the idea of dancing lights and welcoming neighbors back to "Elvis' house"
This was our 2021 show (personally my favorite)
This was our 2023 show
A fun little thing
My grandfather was a showman, he lived everyday on stage. He was the type of person who could make you smile even on your worst days. He and my grandmother moved to Tustin to start a family, originally living on Theodora but always dreaming of this house on Beneta Way. After their kids grew up and started their own families, Beneta Way finally became their home. My grandfather would dress that house up for any and all holidays, always sitting in his driveway, listening to music and conversing with anyone who came by.
My grandfather was my bestfriend growing up, teaching me how to ride a bike, how to show kindness to a stranger, how to drive but most importantly, how to put on a show. Every holiday I would help him decorate, we would place something, take a step back to see how it looked and if we got the approval of my grandmother he'd say "print it." My grandfather loved every holiday equally, he was a really big fan of the Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire film "Holiday Inn" but one holiday always stood out and that was Christmas. My grandfathers favorite album was Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" playing it on repeat from Thanksgiving until after Christmas day.
We lost my grandfather to cancer in 2016, it felt as if the lights had gone dark, the hardest thing was telling all the trick or treaters that year that Elvis was no longer with us. I promised my grandfather before he left us that I would continue what he started. So in 2018 my friends and I got the idea to not only decorate but to incorporate music that my grandfather loved to the lights and see what we could do. Well, six years later and we are going strong, creating a new show every year, keeping that Christmas spirit alive. My grandfather always had a great one liner but his favorite to say as a goodbye was "see you in the movies kid."
